Playa de Mil Palmeras
Mil Palmeras Beach (Thousand Palms Beach) lies in the south of Orihuela Costa. The village and resort of Mil Palmeras is located on the banks of the River Seco and is easily accessed by the N-332 dual carriageway.
The main Mil Palmeras Beach is directly in front of the village centre and boasts fine wide sands, disabled access, lifeguards during the summer months, sun loungers, parasols, beach sports and a nearby children's playground. On either side of the river estuary are a selection of popular beach bars (chiringuitos) with fun names such as Pirate and Popeye Bar.
Here bathers can enjoy a good selection of soft and alcoholic drinks, cocktails and a selection of snacks. Children can play on paddle boats and a little floating adventure playground and the older visitor looking for adventure will find a selection of water sports and activities.
Behind Popeye Bar is the small village square and what locals refer to as Restaurant Alley. The choice of eateries here include, fish and seafood, pizza, paella, Greek and a selection of tapas bars. There is also a cafe bar offering a choice of ice creams and the small Discoteca Imagine for visitors who wish to kick up their heels until the early hours.
Lo Monte Natural Park
Covering an area of 10.3 hectares, Lo Monte Natural Park is a protected wetland with two large lakes. Around the lakes are picturesque nature trails and 5 observation points where visitors can view about 36 different bird species. Visitors can explore at their leisure or arrange a guided tour, and the park is a popular destination for school children on field trips. Signs throughout the park have interesting information on the various flora & fauna of the area.
